Accessibility statement

We want everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification or voice control.

Last reviewed 24 October 2026

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. You should be able to:

  • use the whole site with a keyboard alone
  • use the site with a screen reader
  • zoom in up to 400% without text spilling off the screen
  • pause the moving photos on the home page, or have them stay still if your device is set to reduce motion
  • read every page with colours that meet WCAG contrast standards
  • read a description of every photo that carries meaning

How we test

Every change to the site is checked automatically before it goes live, using the axe accessibility testing engine in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari at phone, tablet and desktop sizes. The tests also check keyboard use, visible focus, page headings, form labels and that pages work at a narrow width. Automated testing can’t catch everything, so we also review pages by hand.

Known limitations

  • Donations are taken on PayPal’s website, which we don’t control.
  • Some older photos from our archive are lower in quality than we would like.
